THE HALLENDUO IN NECKARPARK
UNIQUE AND DOUBLY GOOD NeckarPark Stuttgart plus the Cannstatter Wasen is one of the biggest and most attractive event locations in Europe. Five highly modern venues for top international sport, cultural, business and political events line the Mercedesstraße: the Hanns-Mar t in- Schleyer -Ha l le and Porsche-Arena duo, the Carl Benz Center, the Mercedes-Benz Arena with the SCHARRena and the museum belonging to the automotive manufacturer. Extensively modernised and enlarged in 2006, the 15,500 capacity Hanns-MartinSchleyer-Halle is one of the largest indoor arenas in Germany. When officially opened in 1983, it was Europe’s first multi-functional hall and together with the Porsche-Arena, which opened in May 2006, it forms a unique so-called „Hallenduo“ in the whole of Europe. 2
TAKE A CLOSER LOOK, COME IN … Take a closer look and immerse yourself in an indoor complex that is unique and doubly good. A light-flooded and airy lobby unites the two arenas. The elongated Porsche-Arena is elegantly connected to the glass construction through which people stream into both halls. Flexibility is key and this is also reflected in the diversity of the events – the schedule is as top class as it is emotional. Over 5,000 events with a total of more than 25 million visitors from 2006 to 2019 is clear proof of its attractivity. Experience the Hallenduo and the many great moments live and with your own eyes. A warm welcome… 3
MAJOR ROCK AND POP ARTISTS Curtains up for the big stars of the international music and show scene. AC/DC, Phil Collins, Metallica, Sir Elton John, David Copperfield, Robbie Williams, Pink, Herbert Grönemeyer, Pur, Die Fantastischen Vier, Helene Fischer, Peter Maffay, star violinist David Garrett and the folk rock and roller Andreas Gabalier have all delighted fans. Experiencing the stars and groups live on stage is something unforgettable for fans time and time again. Every concert produces its own fascination. Sound, lighting, stage scenery and stage show gel into a musical experience that excites and enraptures the audience. 4
THE STARS AT ARMS LENGTH With over 200 events annually, there is always a lot happening in the arenas. The schedule’s diversity knows no bounds. Flexibility is the key – it is the strength of the Hallenduo – something that is much appreciated by concert promotors. Stuttgart figures prominently in the tour schedules of many national and international acts and concert promoters – it also applies to the PorscheArena. With a maximum concert capacity of about 6,000, it offers the perfect backdrop for stars and bands like Sarah Connor, Revolverheld, Runrig, James Blunt, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Wolfgang Niedecken’s BAP, Sido, Silbermond, musical productions and big tattoos. 5
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES The diverse events can be enjoyed as a double pack in the Hanns-MartinSchleyer-Halle and the Porsche-Arena. This particularly applies to company presentations, congresses, annual general meetings, party conferences and religious rallies. An outstanding example was the 35thGerman Evangelical Church Congress in 2015 which occupied the two arenas and the neighbouring Cannstatter Wasen. The Hallenduo functions in a variety of ways. It does not matter whether they are used on their own, parallel or in unison. Everything is possible – spotlight on for a concert in the Schleyer-Halle and at the same time a first division handball match in the Porsche-Arena. Or elegant ballroom dancing in one hall and breathtaking jumps at the ADAC Super Cross in the other. Added to this, there are major DVD 6
AND ALWAYS AT HIGH SPEED productions with Die Fantastischen Vier, the Ehrlich Brothers as well as national comedians like Kaya Yanar, Michael Mittermeier and Christoph Sonntag. Sports fans all get their money’s worth – and the sportsmen and women are also thrilled by the fantastic atmosphere in the arena. Above all the women tennis players who have already voted the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix as their favourite tournament worldwide on nine occasions. The tennis tournament has been staged in the Porsche-Arena since 2006 – from 2009 as a clay court event. One ardent supporter of the venue is the former German Fed Cup team captain Barbara Rittner: “For the players and me, the Porsche-Arena has become our second living room. It’s Germany’s most beautiful tennis hall.” 7
ENTHRALLING ELITE SPORT With a programme that includes the International STUTTGART GERMAN MASTERS Horse Show, the ADAC Super Cross or the artistic gymnastics World Cup/DTB Cup, the Hallenduo is the stage for three quite different sports. Good news – there are also new projects and the adidas RockStars is one such successful concept. Bouldering and live music are showcased attractively. The fans are thrilled. There was also a fantastic atmosphere in the PorscheArena for the Stihl Timbersports World Championship, and for the UCI Indoor Cycling World Championships. Exceptional experiences were conjured up by the 2009 European Table Tennis Championships, the Handball World Championship and the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2007 and 2019 as well as the 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. 8
AND CLOSE TO THE ACTION In addition to horse riding, table tennis, gymnastics and boxing, handball above all is highly popular. The first division TVB 1898 Stuttgart club regularly produces thrilling matches and sell-out crowds. It also applies to the national handball team for which the Porsche-Arena is a perfect venue. It has remained undefeated in Stuttgart for the last 10 years and has won every international match – Stuttgart was where Germany’s triumph at the 2016 European Championship in Poland all started. As far as architecture and multi-functionality are concerned, the Porsche-Arena is a real highlight. There is seating for up to 6,200 spectators and they are all close to the action due to the steep stands. Visitors can look forward to a fabulous atmosphere and a top-class live experience. 9
